We were back down in the Hillgrove Hotel in Monaghan for Amanda and Sharon’s big day – and what a night it was! The two girls were in mighty form when we landed in, all smiles and buzzing to get their dancing shoes on. We just knew straight away this one was gonna be some party.
They kicked the night off in style with Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.” Honestly, what a tune! Proper feel-good stuff – you couldn’t help but sing along. By the time the second chorus came round, the whole room was roaring it out with them. Goosebumps all round, and the perfect way to set the tone for the night ahead.
After that, sure it was flat out. The floor filled in seconds and didn’t empty once – the craic was ninety from start to finish. 80s tunes were the big winners of the night, and between us hammering out the classics live and Rod spinning more retro bangers on the decks, the place was bouncing. Nobody was for sitting down – Madonna, Whitney, Bon Jovi, A-Ha – every chorus had the crowd shouting and clapping along.
We’ve played the Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan loads of times, and it never lets you down. The staff are dead on, the ballroom’s a cracker for live music, and the buzz is always brilliant. It’s no wonder so many couples around Monaghan and the border counties pick it for their big day.
Honestly, Amanda and Sharon’s wedding just flew in. One of those nights where you look at the clock and can’t believe it’s nearly over. The atmosphere was unreal, the crowd were flat out dancing, and we were loving every minute of it ourselves.
