Never Gonna Give You Up!

Anna & Paddy’s Wedding

Back on the road last night for the first time in nearly five weeks!  That’s longest that we’ve ever went without playing since we started the band!  One of Anna and Paddy’s wedding guests inspired this blog title, as he asked us to play Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up!  We’re not sure if we’ve ever played it in the disco before, and if we have it’s been a long time!  So, as it was a bit unusual for us, we thought that would sort the blog title! (apologies for the crap header pic, we couldn’t find anything else!)

So, as mentioned above, we were playing at Anna and Paddy’s wedding, and it was nearly five weeks since we were playing!  That’s also how long it is since we’ve seen Anna and Paddy, as they were guests at Graine and Sean’s wedding on the 24th of January!  Anna and Paddy had picked the stunning Redcastle Hotel for their wedding reception.  What a great choice!  It’s on the Donegal coast, and has stunning views!

We kicked things off the Train’s amazing Drops of Jupiter for Anna and Paddy’s first dance – what a great song!  We got the bridal party to join them half way through, and then opened the floor for the next song.  Anna had mentioned playing some Kenny Rogers, so we started with the Gambler which went down great.  We lost our dancers after a while, and ended up going back to the jiving to get them back on the floor!  Things weren’t quite as lively as we liked before the buffet, however everything went up a few gears after it was served, and the place was bouncing right through until our last song at 1:30!  Well, it actually wasn’t our last song, as we had to play an encore – somebody asked for Belter, and it was a great tune to end the night! :)

Thanks again to Anna and Paddy for booking us to play at their wedding reception.  It was great to meet them both again so soon!  We’ll sign off by wishing them well on their honeymoon.  Due to all the Corona virus travel uncertainties at the min, they’ve decided to go down South for a few days for more, and then maybe somewhere further afield at a later date!  Have a great time guys!
