Leo inspired this blog title, as he’s from Germany and a big Rammstein fan! (although, we think Corinne is also a big fan!)  For the non metal fans reading, Rammstein are Germany’s biggest metal band, and Du Hast is probably their biggest hit.  They had asked us to play a couple of Rammstein tunes in the disco, and Du Hast in particular went down a storm!

Corinne and Leo had chosen the brilliant Hugh McCanns in Newcastle for their wedding reception on Monday – thanks to both of them for inviting us along to entertain them and their wedding guests.  They picked the stunning Loft Suite, which is just a perfect room for more intimate crowds.  The decor is really cool: a nice contemporary mix of old and new.  Definitely a great choice!

We kicked things with a first!  Corinne and Leo had picked a Shakin Steven’s classic for their first dance: we don’t remember anyone else picking Shaky for their first dance!  The song of choice was You Drive Me Crazy: which definitely was a great pick, as it’s got a great upbeat tempo!  We already had invited the bridal party and crowd on half way through the first dance, and kept things at a similar tempo with the Chris Montez classic Lets Dance.

The floor was full after that, and we kicked off the band set with Tigerfeet (possibly another first for us, but it sat great with the tempo of Lets Dance).  That kept the floor buzzing, and it was buzzing pretty much all night: it definitely didn’t feel like a Monday night!  We had a great mix of tunes during the band a disco, although the rock n roll, rock and dance tunes definitely were the favs.  We had everything from Elvis to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Scooter to Metallica, and of course Rammstein!  Due to the expected Monday effect, a lot of the guests started to filter out around 11:30 / 12.  However, the ones that were left still enjoyed themselves, especially when we played Enter Sandman at the end!

Thanks again to Corinne and Leo for booking us to play at their wedding. It was great to meet them both, and hear about how great their day was going.  We asked Leo if he was having a good day, and he gave us the ultimate answer!  He said it was the best day of his life!  Unfortunately we can’t wish them well on honeymoon, as they had booked with Thomas Cook!  As a result of the company collapsing, their travel plans have all been cancelled, which is awful.  However, they were very upbeat about it, as they will get their money back, and can book something else at a later a time.  Finally, Corinne is due to have their first baby next April, so we’d like to congratulate them both on that, and wish them and the new arrival all the best for the future!
