London Calling!

Cheryl & Barrie’s Wedding

One of the Scottish guests at last night’s wedding inspired this blog title and pic.  He came over and asked us to play The Clash’s Should I Stay or Should I Go.  It’s a long time since we’ve been asked for that, so that grabbed our attention.  We couldn’t get a decent royalty free pic of The Clash, so a tribute to classic hit London Calling was the best we could do!

Thanks to Cheryl and Barrie for inviting us along to their wedding reception in the Killyhevlin Hotel last night.  The ever impressive venue was looking fantastic as usual, as was the beautiful view of Lough Erne from the function room patio!

We kicked things off with the Westlife classic Beautiful in White for Cheryl and Barrie’s first dance.  After that we invited the bridal party to join them as we played our version of Ronan Keating’s This I Promise You.  We sped things up straight away, and got through numerous tunes while we sussed the crowd out.  We started to get them moving when we went old school with some Abba and 70s tunes, then the jivers came to the floor, so we kept them jiving right through till the buffet.  We had our usual mix of tunes through the disco, with a few lesser played ones like Music Man thrown in, as the crowd loved their dance routines!  We were surprised when we hit the stage again at 12:30, as a guest asked for Metallica (with Barrie’s approval!).  We don’t play Enter Sandman much, but that was two nights in a row!

Thanks again to Cheryl and Barrie for booking us to play at their wedding.  It was great to meet them both, and also lovely to hear that we were their only choice of band after hearing us at one of their friend’s wedding a few years ago! :)  We’ll sign off by wishing them well on their honeymoon.  They’re off to Tenerife – have a great time guys!
