Stella & Kevin’s Wedding
We were back up in County Donegal again on Saturday night, not on the coast this time though, as we were in Donegal town. Thanks to Stella and Kevin for inviting us along to play a few tunes at their reception in the fantastic Mill Park Hotel. They had a capacity crowd for the room, and the place was looking great as usual!
Kevin inspired this blog title: it’s a slight play on words, as we’re not talking about a cuppa! He is one of the brewers in the fantastic Kinnegar Brewery in Letterkenny! You can see some of their tasty beers above in the header pic. I recently tried the Limeburner pale ale in a restaurant, and it was lovely!
Anyway, we’ll not get distracted talking about beer! lol We kicked things off with Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide for Stella and Kevin’s first dance, and got the bridal party to join them half way. We opened the floor after that, and started with our version of the Walk of Life as a special request for Stella and Kevin. It quickly filled the floor, so we kept the crowd there with a few more jives. We changed pace quite a few times, and the more modern tunes were going great until we played Avicii’s Wake Me Up, which cleared the dance floor! Needless to say we changed tactic again, and quickly got them back. We went back to the jiving again in the disco, as they definitely loved the country tunes, but we still got our usual mixture of stuff in too! Plus a wee bit of Rory Gallagher and Thin Lizzy towards the end for Kevin!
Thanks again to Stella and Kevin for booking us to play at their wedding. It was great to finally meet them, and hear a bit more about the beers that Kevin brews (we even got to taste some too!) Finally we’ll sign off by wishing them well on their upcoming mini-moon and honeymoon! They’re going to Scotland for a few days to chill out, and then on to Colorado next year for the proper honeymoon! Colorado should be awesome – have a great time guys!
