Michelle & Gary’s Wedding

We were back on the road again on Saturday night, and headed down to Newry to play at Michelle and Gary’s wedding reception.  They had picked the fantastic Flagstaff Lodge as their venue: which is a great place, with fantastic service and really friendly staff.  It’s set on the hillside, just on the outskirts of Newry; so has some beautiful views as well!

The wacky and weird blog titles continue, but look at that cute guy up above – worth the weird title just to put his pic up there!  Michelle was the inspiration for this blog title.  A few of her mates came over to us during the disco and asked us to play The Osmonds’ Puppy Love, as it was one of her favourite songs!  As far as we can remember, it’s the first time we’ve every played it, so we thought it would make a good blog title!

We kicked things off with our version of Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight for Michelle and Gary’s first dance.  It’s been quite a while since we last played it: but it’s a lovely tune, and gives me a chance to stretch out a wee bit on the guitar! 🙂  After that we opened the floor, and asked everyone to join them. We got a good few dancers, then lost quite a few of them to the bar!  There were a lot of evening guests who had just arrived, so it’s understandable that they would want a few ‘refreshments’! 😉  However, once the crowd got settled in things kicked off big time, and the dance floor was bouncing!  They stayed there when we hit the stage again for the last half hour, and floor was full for the big end of night finale! 🙂

Thanks again to Michelle and Gary for booking us to play at their wedding.  It was great to meet them both, and see how much they enjoyed their night.  Always great to hear that the crowd enjoyed themselves too, and Michelle wasn’t shy at the end of the night about telling us how many great compliments she had received about us! 🙂  Finally, we’d like to sign off by wishing them well on their honeymoon.  They’re going to the Big Apple, which should be fantastic – have a great time guys!
