Jen & Peter’s Wedding
We finished our week in the Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena on Saturday night. It was Jen and Peter’s big day, so thanks to both of them for inviting us along to play at their wedding reception. The Leighinmohr has a MASSIVE function room, and we’ve rarely played to a crowd that filled it. However, Saturday was different, as the place was stuffed! It definitely is a great room for a large crowd, so maybe worth checking out if you’re planning a wedding with big numbers.
So, yet another weird and wonderful (well, maybe not wonderful! lol) header pic! So, who stole the show then? Well, this young guy below did – big time! He’s called Ben, and had to go through major life threatening life surgery last summer – although you wouldn’t think it if you saw him perform! Jen had mentioned that he is a massive fan, and asked if we would get him up to sing a song or two. Of course we were more than happy to oblige: seeing how much he enjoyed himself made our night! Plus, he did steal the show from us! He got far more cheering and applause than we did all night! Never mind knowing all the words, he had all the Elvis moves down to a tee! Talk about great craic! He was that popular we got him two more times during the night, and he sang five songs in total – we think he had the time of his life! 🙂
Before Ben stole the show from us, we invited Jen and Peter to the floor for their first dance. We had Leona Lewis again, only a different song from Friday night’s wedding: they had picked her amazing version of A Moment Like This. After that, we invited Jen’s Dad Eddie to the floor, and they had their father/daughter dance to our version of the Jimmy Buckley classic Your Wedding Day.
Next up, we could see the bridal party were eager to get going, and (as requested) we invited them all on the floor to Footloose. It wasn’t long before the crowd joined them, and the massive dance floor was filled in no time! What an amazing crowd, they never stopped dancing all night. The disco was bouncing too, and the place went mad after we hit the stage at the end of the night and finished things off with Mr Brightside! All in all it was a fantastic night, so thanks to everyone for making our job that wee bit easier! 🙂
Thanks again to Jen and Peter for booking us to play at their wedding. It was such a lovely way to finish our week, and great to meet them both; and hear how much they enjoyed their night! As usual we got chatting about their honeymoon, but they’re not heading away just yet. They’re going to have a mini-moon in the beautiful Lough Eske Castle in Donegal, and then are hoping to go on Safari in South Africa during the summer! Fingers crossed guys: wherever you go, have a great time!
