Ailish & Gerard’s Wedding
We played at our first wedding of the year last night! It’s about five weeks since we last played, but it felt like a year! Thanks to Ailish and Gerard for inviting us along to be a small part of their big day. We were back in Corick House yet again – we’ll soon be part of the furniture in there! lol The place was looking great as usual, and running bang on time, as they were just clearing the desserts away when we arrived.
Our first post of the year, and we have another weird and wonderful blog title! This one came courtesy of one of the Corick House staff! We’ll not name and shame the guy, but he accidentally pulled out the plug when we were playing, and switched all our equipment off! The dance floor was packed at the time, so we won’t overly impressed! However, the crowd stayed there and kept singing by themselves while we got everything back on, so it ended up being a bit of craic!
Prior to that ‘incident’, we kicked things off with Picture This’ brilliant ‘Take My Hand’ for Ailish and Gerard’s first dance. They had asked us to open the floor half way through, but only a handful of dancers joined them, which got us worried! However, there was no need for us to panic – we came in straight after with our version of George Ezra’s Paradise, and the dance floor filled! 🙂 That was pretty much the story for the whole night, as the floor was never empty, and only quiet for a couple of songs. There were loads of jivers in, so that filled the floor everytime. However, we had to balance things out for the Belfast crowd, so they got everything from the Stones, to The Killers, to Born Slippy in the disco (a special request for Gerard). All in all, it was a great night, and thanks to everyone for helping us give Ailish and Gerard a great night!
Thanks again to Ailish and Gerard for booking us to play at their wedding. It was great to chat to them afterwards, and find out that Ailish lives about a mile from me! (Rod) Finally, we’d like to wish them well on their honeymoons. Yes, you read that correct, honeymoons! They’re going on a mini moon to Budapest now, and then are heading away on their proper honeymoon at Easter! They’re going to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand! Sounds amazing, that’s definitely how to do it – have a great time guys!
