Celia & Gabriel’s Wedding

We finished our week in the beautiful An Creagan, which is located about half way between Cookstown and Omagh – thanks to Celia and Gabriel for inviting us along to play a few tunes at their wedding reception.  We’ve never had an enquiry from anyone about having their wedding in An Creagan before, and found out why when we arrived.  It was their very first wedding!

Wow – it’s pretty cool that we got to play at their first ever wedding! :)  You may think that things may not have run as smoothly in comparison to an established wedding venue, well you would be wrong!  Sinead is the duty manager, and we know her from her time in Corick House and The Manor House, so she knows how to run a wedding reception!  The building is beautiful, and has lovely curved walls which add real quirky charm and character.  Add in that it’s situated on a beautiful site with loads of scenery, and you’ll find this really is a bit of a hidden gem!

If you’re thinking of having your wedding in the mid-ulster area, then contact Sinead ASAP as this place is probably going to book up fast!

So, there were obviously a lot of firsts on Saturday, and as Sinead had things running like clockwork, it didn’t take long for us to get in and setup ready to play the first dance!  The room was looking great, and laid out perfectly to suit the size of the crowd.  We invested in a LOT of new lights recently (twenty, but who’s counting! lol), to give us more options for different sized rooms.  It’s sort of like two lighting systems in one – our thinking behind this was that we could strip it back for smaller rooms, allowing us to add great atmosphere to the place without taking up too much room.  The lights definitely looked great on Saturday, even if we do say so ourselves! :)

We kicked things off with Van Morrison’s Into the Mystic for Celia and Gabriel’s first dance, and called the bridal party to join them half way through.  As usual we opened the floor to everyone for the next song, and the floor filled! :)  They were definitely a lively bunch, and fired loads of requests at us – everything from Hit the Diff to Meatloaf!  Gabriel is from Roscommon, so we played quite a few requests for the guests that travelled up from there.  We ended things in normal Juice style by hitting the stage again at the end of the night for the last few songs, and ended with one of our favourites – Free’s fantastic All Right Now!

Unfortunately Celia had to leave to look after their young son before we finished, and we didn’t get her in the pic :(  However, at least we got Gabriel in there, and hopefully Celia will like the photo of all her guests anyway!

Thanks again to Celia and Gabriel for booking us to play at their wedding.  It was great to meet them both, and hear about where they live at in England, and how close they are to the channel tunnel for going on day trips!  They have no honeymoon plans at the minute as their son is only 21 months.  However, they’re hoping to get to California next year, which would be amazing!  Fingers crossed guys – have a great time if you make it over there!
