Julie & Trevor’s Wedding
We finished our week in style, as we were playing in Slane Castle on Saturday night!!! Definitely an iconic venue to have played in, so thanks to Julie and Trevor for inviting us along to play at their wedding. We’re lucky to play in some stunning venues, but don’t normally get to play in a venue as iconic as Slane Castle! Is there anywhere better in Ireland for a band to play? We have to say, the castle is stunning inside, and really is a fantastic wedding venue. Jemma was the wedding coordinator, and she had everything running smoothly. Plus, she couldn’t have made us feel anymore welcome – cheers Jemma! The Castle is definitely up there as one of the best castles that we’ve seen, and should definitely be on your shortlist if you’re thinking of getting married in the Slane area!
It’s nearly two years since Julie and Trevor booked us to play at their wedding, and our ears definitely perked up when they told us their reception was in Slane Castle! lol So, it wasn’t hard for us to pick a title for this blog! In fact, we had it picked long ago, and it has to be our favourite one to date!! Hopefully you like our flyer mock up, we thought it looked a bit cooler than just putting up a photo of the Castle, as there’s one on the website screenshot anyway! We were playing in the Ballroom, and it’s beautiful, with an absolutely stunning domed ceiling!
Julie and Trevor had asked us to play Bon Jovi’s ‘Aways’ for their first dance, and we sped things up after that and quickly got a great group of dancers. The bar was outside the room, so we lost a lot of dancers at times, as they headed out to get some drinks – it’s always a bit of a problem in any venue, as once you’re at the bar you can’t really hear what’s going on in the function room. However, once we got them back, the craic was mighty and there was a great buzz on the dance floor! We were able to get a great range of songs played, everything from waltzing to Ed Sheeran – plus, we even got a bit of Audioslave on for Trevor! By request, we finished things off with Jeff Healey’s brilliant cover of Bob Dylan’s “When the night comes falling from the sky”.
Thanks again to Julie and Trevor for booking us to play at their wedding. It was great to meet them and their two lovely kids, Summer and Jesse. Julie is expecting again in November, so congrats to them both, and best wishes for the new arrival. They’re going to Wales this week for a mini-moon, then having are their ‘proper’ honeymoon in Thailand next year. Enjoy both trips guys, and have a great time!
