Rachel & Ewan’s Wedding
We played our first of this week’s three weddings in the Dunadry Hotel in Antrim last night. It was Rachel and Ewan’s wedding, so thanks to both of them for inviting us along to play a few tunes. We haven’t been in the Dunadry for a couple of years, but it was great to see Malachy hasn’t lost his touch, and had things running like clockwork. Things were running a wee bit behind, as there was loads to say in the speeches – however, Malachy and the staff weren’t long getting things back on track!
Is this maybe the weirdest blog title that we’ve used so far? Probably not, as there’s been some unusual ones. Anyway, it’s not a weird as it sounds! lol Rachel and Ewan having been living and teaching in Chile since the start of the year, and they had asked us to play some Raggaeton music in the disco. We had never heard of this, but’s it’s basically Latin dance / hip hop – we played a few tunes in the disco, and they went down great!
Thursday nights can be a bit more subdued than Fridays and Saturdays, however once this crowd got going they must have thought it was a Saturday night! lol Once we got the first dance and father / daughter dance finished, we sped things and got some dancers. Not as many as we would have liked, however it didn’t take long to get the floor livened up. The amount of people on the floor for the last hour was unbelievable for a Thursday night, and the atmosphere was amazing! It was great to see all of Rachel and Ewan’s family make such a big effort to help them enjoy their big day – cheers guys!
Thanks again to Rachel and Ewan for booking us to play at their wedding. It was great to meet them both, and hear all about Chile! (well, apart from the spiders out there!!!) They haven’t decided on where all to go on honeymoon yet, but the amazing Easter Island is the definitely going to be one of the locations! If you pop onto Lonely Planet, you’ll see it’s a stunning place. Fingers crossed guys that you get to see a few other places – enjoy Easter Island and wherever else you go!
